FOUNDING OF VAN GENT B.V.
Van Gent B.V. was founded in 1967 in Wijchen, The Netherlands. The family-owned company, which would later become known worldwide as Van Gent Forklift Parts B.V., initially focused solely on the supply of aftermarket forklift replacement parts and original parts for the Hyster brand.
INTERNATIONAL SALES AND GROWTH
By 1970, within 3 years of the company’s establishment, Van Gent B.V. expanded its territory on an international scale by supplying to clients in Germany, Belgium, UK and even the USA. Over the course of the 70’s other European countries were added to the line-up, resulting in a steady growth for the company. This expanse also meant that the current warehouse did not suffice anymore and in 1985 Van Gent B.V. had to move to a bigger 2000m2 warehouse, also located in Wijchen, The Netherlands.
INPARTS - AN ENGINEERING FACTORY OWNED BY VAN GENT B.V.
In 1990 Van Gent B.V. founded Inparts B.V as a subsidiary. This subsidiary would focus solely on (re-) engineering and producing Hyster forklift replacement parts for Van Gent B.V. Besides re-engineering, Inparts also designs products in-house like the infamous AL4000 forklift jack, which was introduced on the market in 1990 and would soon after be used around the world by mechanics from brands such as Toyota, Nissan and many more.
SUPPLIER OF ALL POPULAR BRANDS OF FORKLIFT TRUCKS
Over the years to come, Van Gent B.V. would continue to show a steady growth in sales. By 1995 Van Gent B.V. moved to a new and bigger warehouse in Beuningen, the Netherlands with twice the capacity (4000m2) compared to the former warehouse. In 1996 management decided it was time to broaden the company’s scope and become a multi-brand wholesaler of forklift replacement parts, thereby playing into market changes such as the successful entrance of the big Japanese car manufacturers Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Komatsu into the forklift market in the mid-1980’s. The product-brand line was expanded to include parts for all forklift brands, makes and models: in addition to the increasingly popular Japanese brands the new line also incorporated forklift parts of German, Korean and even Italian make.
A LARGER WAREHOUSE AND THE BIRTH OF ORANGEPARTS
Within 5 years the warehouse in Beuningen once again proved to be too small to handle the company’s growth and in 2000 Van Gent B.V. moved into its current headquarters; a 10.000m2 premises in the city of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. In 2001 the brand name OrangeParts was registered and from this point onwards, all non-OEM replacement parts would be sold under the OrangeParts brand name. The idea behind OrangeParts was to build upon the company’s solid reputation as a supplier of high-quality, non-OEM forklift parts and the brand would soon gain a reputation of providing excellent value for money.
EXCLUSIVE DEALERSHIP ATIB
In 2006 Van Gent B.V. signed an exclusive agreement with ATIB - the Italian manufacturer of forklift attachments and battery chargers. The agreement made Van Gent the exclusive dealer of ATIB-products throughout the BeNeLux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg).
40 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS AND CROSSING THE OCEAN
Van Gent B.V. celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2007. Being 40 years in the business the management of Van Gent B.V. decided to make the jump across the big pond by establishing a subsidiary, Intella Liftparts inc., in Holland, Michigan, USA.
In 2011 Van Gent B.V. introduced its own take on the Blue Spot Safety Led with a voltage range of 9-96V under the OrangeParts brand name. The superior quality and robustness the OrangeParts Blue Spot provided made it a serious competitor for the original Linde Blue Spot, which only had a voltage range of 12-48V.
In 2012 the founders of Van Gent Forklift Parts B.V. presented their successor, Dave Lam, as the CEO of the company. Under the leadership of Dave Lam, Van Gent continued to grow and make profit year over year.
One of the first major strategic changes made by the new management was the introduction of a webshop in 2014, which would cater to the needs of end users in the forklift market. In the same year Van Gent B.V. singed off on an exclusive dealership contract with Pramac for the Dutch market.
50TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF VAN GENT
